Ardnamurchan doesn’t work with a single “Master Blender” the way most distilleries do — instead, a six-person blending team decides collectively on every cask that makes it into a bottle. When that team noses a sample of a particularly characterful cask, they’ll sometimes pull it aside specifically for a single cask release, a practice the distillery describes as “hearkening back to our Adelphi roots as a single-cask, cask-strength bottler.” Ardnamurchan packages dozens of these individual releases every year, each entirely matured in one cask and typically bottled at natural cask strength — genuinely one-of-a-kind whisky, no blending for consistency, no attempt to replicate a house profile beyond the distillery’s own underlying spirit character.
Cask 910 is one such release: unpeated Ardnamurchan spirit, distilled in 2018 and now seven years old, matured entirely in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at its full, undiluted cask strength — 59.7% ABV. As the distillery itself puts it: “although every cask’s whisky will be unique, each will retain distinct traits of AD single malt whisky” — the gentle peat smoke, rich oily honey, and coastal character that Ardnamurchan credits directly to its remote position on Scotland’s wild Atlantic coastline, even in an unpeated expression like this one.
As with any true single cask, we don’t have independently published tasting notes specific to Cask 910 — its character belongs entirely to this one barrel, and the only honest way to know precisely what’s inside is to open it. For general house-style context, Ardnamurchan’s unpeated, ex-bourbon-matured single casks have consistently been described with notes of orchard fruit, oyster shells, honey, and marzipan, alongside pear and almond tart, sea salt, and gentle citrus — the distillery’s signature combination of clean, sweet bourbon-cask character layered with real maritime freshness. This is presented in a 700ml bottle, packaged in Ardnamurchan’s distinctive opaque slate blue glass.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Ardnamurchan Distillery opened in July 2014 in Glenbeg, on the Ardnamurchan peninsula — one of the most westerly points on the British mainland — built by the Adelphi Distillery Company, which had already established a strong reputation as an independent bottler of quality malt whisky since 1993. The distillery is powered by hydroelectric and biomass energy, drawing on local barley and sustainable practices throughout production, and remains one of the most consistently celebrated new-era distilleries in Scotland.
Rather than a single Master Blender, Ardnamurchan is guided by a six-person blending team, who collectively decide which casks are characterful enough to warrant an individual single-cask release. Cask 910 is unpeated Ardnamurchan spirit, distilled in 2018, matured entirely in ex-bourbon oak for seven years, and bottled non-chill filtered, in natural colour, at full cask strength — 59.7% ABV.
Critics Reviews

For general house-style context, Ardnamurchan’s unpeated, ex-bourbon single cask releases have been described with notes of orchard fruit, oyster shells, honey, marzipan, pear, almond tart, and sea salt.
